HOT Jumpsuit Adventure

GR8 SAXNicole and I have been spending time together distracting each other from the heaviness of life and have been having quite a few adventures doing the most normal everyday things. "How do they do it???" Last week, we were driving around town and at the same stoplight, saw one SUV that had a tennis ball smashed into it's rear window and another car in front of us with the license plate 'GR8 SAX' driven by an 80 year old couple.

What is this? This morning, I somehow convinced her to go to the gym with me at 8:30am on a Saturday morning...almost completely unheard of. Modelling the Jumpsuit She was a good sport and we ended up having a very energetic and productive morning. After some Jamba Juice and going our seperate ways for the afternoon, we got back together and headed up to the outlets in Vacaville do so some damage and reward ourselves. While at one of the stores, Nicole somehow managed to find one of the sexiest jumpsuits there ever was. Nicole showing of the jumpsuit's sexinessAfter finally gathering ourselves from laughing at the thing, we both said, "What is that thing???" After a couple of half-joking dares, we both jumped into one of the fitting rooms to try on this magnificent creation. We have yet to figure out what the outfit is used for, but had some good laughs with it.

We ended the night with breakfast for dinner at IHOP and driving home in a food coma.

Until the next adventure...

Not my day

Remember this? It happened again... =(

I managed to somehow drop my camera again this morning while in the kitchen onto the tile flooring. The camera is broken in the exact same way that my other camera broke.

While I was in the kitchen, I popped some bread in the toaster but with the distractions and heartbreak of nursing my broken camera, I didn't check on the bread.

I don't think I am meant to have a camera for more than a year. I am now sitting here eating burnt bread and it somehow seems fitting for this darn gloomy day.

Sleep Deprivation

Things have been really different for me in the past couple of months. I am not a morning person and have never been able to wake up easily in the morning. I have five alarm clocks set strategically around my bedroom with different rings/music/noises and yet, still could not wake up easily...and when I did wake up, it always took me at least a couple of hours to ease into my day before I could be normal or coherant. I needed at least seven hours of sleep to function properly or else trudged around in a "not so happy" mood. Waking up before 7am was absurd and unheard of.

Within the past couple of months, I have become a whole different person. I now have only two alarm clocks set for 5:45am but actually wake up before the alarms even go off. I hop out of bed and am excited to start my day. Even with less sleep than I got previously, I am in a happy mood, although I'm probably pretty out of it. Last night I had trouble sleeping and woke up about every 40 minutes from 11pm on to 4:30am. By the time 4:30 rolled around I gave up even trying to go to sleep and got out of bed. Yet, despite this lack of sleep and the resulting exhaustion, I still made it through my day in a reasonably good mood and still got my workout in...let's just ignore the random hallucinations or count the cups of coffee I've had.

Looong Weekend

Snow Angel
Originally uploaded by kimbalina.
Usually my long weekends seem to fly by so fast. This particular President's Day weekend, I did so much and went to so many different places, that it actually felt like a long weekend for me.

On friday afternoon, we packed up the car and headed up to North Lake Tahoe for the weekend. It has been pretty stormy here in the bay area all week, so I was pretty stoked for some good snow in Tahoe...and good snow we got! We passed through Truckee on the way to our cabin and got so excited to see a Dairy Queen that we stopped there to eat. I was more excited about the dessert part than the actual dinner, but ate a real meal before I indulged myself. After stuffing ourselves with junk food, we each got our own huge sundaes and happily ate cold ice cream despite the cold snow that was falling outside.

Once we were happily stuffed, we headed up to the two bedroom cabin where twenty of us cozied up together for the night. We woke up early the next day and headed to NorthStar, my new favorite ski resort. The snow was perfect! The slopes were well groomed and the runs were long. Thanks to my encouragement from Tine the last time we went boarding, I was able to board like a pro and even went on a couple of black diamond runs! It was also the first time I could tell that my working out has been doing me a lot of good. I was able to go the entire day almost non-stop without getting tired and I am barely sore now after it. Even though the weather, snow, slopes, and boarding were awesome, my highlight of the weekend was finding out the night before that one of my best friends Denise was going to be there at the same time. We got to spend the day together catching up, snowboarding/skiing, and hanging out together. It was awesome.

After some good food, bonding, and laughing together at the cabin Saturday night, we had our big snow ball fight Sunday morning before heading our seperate ways and heading home. I snuck away by myself to a clear patch of snow and made my own snow angel. Shortly after making my pretty angel, I was tackled in the snow and hit in the face by a huge snowball.

Since we were up there anyways, a few of us headed up to Reno for a little fun at Circus Circus. I managed to double my money (dumb luck) while my friend lost his money at the blackjack tables. We headed up to the carnival games where Bertrand spent his own money trying to win me some prizes. Once we were nearly at the car in the parking garage, I realized that I needed to go to the bathroom before we left. We turned back around and the guys headed to the slot machines while I went to the bathroom. When I came out, I saw Bertrand jumping up and down and our friend David doing a little dance because he won the jackpot at the slots...thanks to me and my bladder!

With his winnings, he treated us to a mother of a meal at Claim Jumpers where we had the best dessert ever and went home happily with full stomachs, sore bodies, and all.

Taiko Drum Master

One of my Valentines gifts from Bertrand was Taiko Drum Master for the Playstation 2. I get a big kick out interactive video games, being goofy and watching everyone else look like a dork. Tine told me about how much fun she had being a Taiko Drum Master and I knew it was something I'd have to try. Today at lunch, we have some real Taiko Drummers here performing for us. Coincidence? I think not. One of the drummers was this little asian lady who looked so pretty when she drummed. Instead of just moving her wrists like the rest of the drummers or bouncing around, everything she did looked so elegant. It was like a dance with her arms waving around and her body moving with it. I am inspired. I took some mental notes and am ready to be a Taiko Drum Master too. Rawwrr.

Some People

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to the understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful just to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leaving footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.

Synchronicity

On my ride into work yesterday, one of my friends sent me a song he had been listening to lately. This morning while starting my day and catching up on my blog reading, I turned on the song and listened to it in the background. Another one of my friends updated his blog with a fairly long post which has been unusual for him lately. As I get to the middle of the post, he posted some lyrics from a song; the exact same song I was listening to in the exact spot I was listening to. After I finished reading, I thought about an odd dream I had last night and wanted to write it down so that I wouldn't forget. I pulled out a piece of paper and started writing. A friend then sent me an instant message telling me that she had a weird dream the night before right as I wrote down the last word of my dream.

It is only 8:30AM...I wonder what the rest of the day has in store for me.
