One big happy iPod family

I finally caved in and bought myself a Blue iPod shuffle last night. Talk about cute! It is oh so cute. Apple always gets me with how "cute" and good looking their products are...and how easy they are to use too. This will be perfect for the gym and for putting in my purse.

I now have a pink mini, black nano, and blue shuffle. Bertrand has the regular 30 GB iPod and the video iPod. That makes us one big happy iPod family.

Weekend at the Fair

The county fair is in town!

Alameda County Fair

It has been one jam packed weekend of fun, friends, and music. Friday night, I went out with the girls for dinner & dessert.

Girl's Night Out

On Saturday, Jen and I spent the night at the fair walking around, eating junk food, and people watching. Then we headed over to the amphitheater to watch SheDaisy in concert.

SheDaisy

Today, after going to church, running errands, and playing with our babies Toby & Max, we met up with everyone else and waited in line for a couple of hours to see....Boyz II Men! That's right...Boyz II Men! *swoon* The wait was well worth it. The guys were amazing and singing along to "End of the Road" and "On Bended Knee" with the rest of the crowd was very nostalgic.

Boyz II Men

I have completely overindulged in junk food and am feeling the results of it right now. In the last two days, I have eaten: 2 corn dogs, 1.5 funnel cakes, garlic fries, nachos, and beef jerky. Ugh. I'm glad the fair only comes around once a year. Salad the rest of the week for me!

Work all day, Work all night.

Painting

Painting

Ever since we've moved into this new house, Bertrand and I go to work all day, then come home to work on our house all night. The first week it was spent unpacking and cleaning. Then it turned to yardwork. As some more of our furniture is slowly arriving, it is also now spent decorating. We have decided to paint the inside of our house ourselves (with the gracious help of my dad) which is a bit of a daunting task, but if we do a little bit every night, we'll get there soon. Last night we painted another room and the night before that, spent the night taping and prepping. Tonight and tomorrow, we'll take a break here and help my dad out with their remodel project. Then? It's back to painting a room/hallway/walkway. It's exhausting but at the same time it's rewarding to know that we did it ourselves and we are one day closer to just...living in the house.

One week off

The couch we ordered a couple of weeks ago was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. Sunday night, we lugged the big sectional we'd been using temporarily downstairs, upstairs to where it belongs. After all the heave-ho'ing, we sat on the floor to watch TV downstairs in our family room. And then...we realized...that it wasn't this Tuesday but next Tuesday the couch is being delivered.

At least it gives us something to laugh about every time we sit down on the floor in the family room.

Google Nomad

I am moving seats again...ironically, to the same building and floor I previously occupied when I was with the Blogger team. This August will be my four year anniversary at Google. That is my 9th move in 4 years.

Backwards

It is really hot outside, but I brought a jacket with me anyways....to wear inside.

Is something wrong with this picture when I have to bundle up and wear jackets/fleece indoors and tanktops and flip-flops outside?

My 15 minutes of pseudo-fame

I gave some feedback recently on the shuttles that are displayed here at work. As part of a campaign, they were showing some of these up on the big screen in the main cafe along with the person's picture. Occasionally, I'll get a little bit of teasing and taunting from friends who happen to spot it. Today, I ate lunch in the cafe. As I was getting food, one of the chefs walked up to me and tapped me on the shoulder, "Excuse me." I turned around and he said, "Hi! I saw your picture up there." and points up to the screen. I smiled and said "yeah". Then suddenly, he was gone. As I was eating lunch in the seating area, a couple of guys looked up at the screen, then looked at me and started pointing as if I was some celebrity or something.

What in the world?

Who knew doing such a simple thing as giving feedback for the shuttle program could catapult someone into pseudo-celebrity status.

furniture, toys, and shoes

Max, the snorkie
Moving into a bigger house has been exciting. There is a little more space to stretch out and some rooms that need furniture. Most of the time when I want to buy something, I ask the question, "Do I need this or want this?" Luckily for me..."new house = need" for many things. This weekend, we ordered a few of the big furniture items we needed. Another purchase I got the weekend before which I definetly like to call a "need" is my new toy, the Canon Digital Rebel Xti. Okay, fine. Really not a need compared to say...a couch, but considering how I like to take pictures of basically everything and definitely get my money's worth out of all my gadgets, this was considered an exception. My new toy has provided hours of entertainment. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it properly and all of the various functions...it has been suggested that I try reading the Owner's Manual (whaaa???).

I wonder if I could get a new pair of wedge sandals to pass as a "need". :)

Wake up!

If you've known me for any amount of time, you probably know that I have a very very hard time waking up in the morning. Regardless of how much sleep I get, I cannot hear my alarms for the life of me. Yes, alarm'S'. I have five. They are all set at various strategic times and locations. But none of these things really work. In the end...it is Bertrand who pushes me out of bed each morning...and each morning I wake up and yell, "I'M LATE!"

We've tried changing the alarm tones, I even had a CD for awhile with Bertrand's recorded voice telling me to get out of bed. But then I learn to drown out the noise. I am not really enjoying waking up to the blaring alarm or getting pushed out of bed. So I've decided to make myself a "Wake up!" CD so that I can wake up happy.
Good Morning Beautiful - Steve Holy
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet
Heigh Ho - 7 Dwarves
Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones
Dragostea Din Tei - O-Zone
It's a Great Day to be Alive - Travis Tritt
Happy Girl - Martina McBride
Feels Like Today - Rascal Flatts
It starts off slow and then some toe tappin', some heigh ho's it's off to work i go, then some hey ho! let's go, and then ends with me determined to have a good day.

I'm so excited to start waking up to this goodness. Let's see how well it works...

Top down weather

It's been nice weather the past couple of days. Not too hot, not too cold. Perfect for driving top down. I love it.

My hair on the other hand...does not enjoy it as much.
