New routine

Yesterday, my friend Jennifer came and had lunch with me and then watched Good Charlotte with me. When I went back to work, she headed to Stanford mall to do some shopping and picked me up once I had wrapped things up. On our way home, we did some major shoe shopping and then headed home only to beat the shuttle. It was the perfect way to end a work day.

Today, I started getting tired and looked at the clock and wondered where my ride was to take me shoe shopping, home, and all before the shuttle got home.

Crazy squirrels

Boy attacked by squirrel in Mtn. View park: "A fierce squirrel attacked a 4-year-old boy at Mountain View's Cuesta Park last week as the rodent tried to wrestle a muffin out of the boy's hands, leaving him with scratch and bite marks that prompted a series of precautionary rabies shots"

Wrestle a muffin? Poor little boy...eating his muffin all peacefully when this squirrel decides to wrestle him for it. I know the feeling. I was chased and attacked by an evil squirrel in London. I need to be more careful of these creepy rodents on my runs. Nature....

Good Charlotte

Good Charlotte came to Google today for a private little concert on the patio. They were awesome. I've loved Good Charlotte for awhile now, so finally getting to see them in person and being a few feet away from them at that, was great. Their music is awesome and their songs are so meaningful and filled with heart. We sat on the lawn but the teeny bopper in me was ready to get up and start jumping and screaming. I did manage to contain myself and sat smiling instead.

The guys seemed really cool. They must be cool right? They came to Google and they have blogs

All the things we talk about
You know they stay on my mind, on my mind
All the things we laugh about
they'll bring us through it every time,
After time, after time

Life!
Hope!
Truth!
Trust!
Faith!
Pride!
Love!
Lust!
Pain!
Hate!
Lies!
Guilt!
Laugh!
Cry!
Live!
Die!

Some friends become enemies
Some friends become your family
Make the best with what your given
This ain't dying
This is living!!!

Cute

How could you not love a face like this?

Not like I'm biased or anything....

Year old cake

Wedding Cake TopThere is an old tradition where couples who get married save the top tier of their wedding cake and freeze it for a year. Then on their one year anniversary, they take the cake out and eat it together in commemoration of their wedding day. A lot of people have asked us if we actually kept this tradition, how'd it taste, was that weird? Here are the answers to your undying questions:

Is that really your wedding cake?

Yes, on our wedding day, the coordinators boxed up the top for us before the rest of the cake was cut and my parents took it home to preserve for us. The box was actually too big for our own freezer so my parents graciously kept it for us in their freezer and pulled it out to defrost the day before we came home from Hawaii.

Did you really eat it?

One Year Anniversary Cake Eating Well...we pulled it out, took some pictures, and took a forkful of the middle part to eat. After the pictures and one bite, we agreed we would throw it away. It was pretty frozen! I could actually knock on the outside of the cake.

How did it taste after being frozen for a year?

Tasted like frozen wedding cake.

Was it worth it?

I am a sucker for traditions. I like them and think they are cute. If so many before us have kept the tradition, who are we to break it? So yes...it was worth it. It was a cute thing to do and added a little excitement and fun to the day. I'm just glad it wasn't a tradition to pull the same cake out every year of marriage. Ick.

Ouchie

While getting dressed this morning, I noticed that a pair of cute, but very painful to wear, heels would have matched perfectly with my outfit. I did a little mind calculation about if it would be worth it to wear them today and thought about how many meetings I would actually have to walk to. In the end, cuteness won over comfort.

I made it through the walk from my car to Starbucks, from my car to the shuttle stop, and the shuttle stop to my desk. Now my feet are killing me. Thank goodness for my pair of Crocs I leave at work (which are incredibly ugly, but SO comfortable).

Name that tune

Our city held a "Day on the Glen" where a carnival style event took place in this gigantic park. There were volleyball and skateboarding tournaments, food booths, event booths, carnival rides, and much more. One of the local radio stations was having a "Name that tune" contest. As I walked past the competition, I started naming every song that was being played. After a couple of rounds, they started looking for new people to come up. I got picked and named my way through "Man I feel like a woman", "Dancing Queen", "Jack and Diane" and "Mambo No. 5" to win four movie tickets. Awesome.

My arm is heavy

I went back to the gym yesterday for the first time in about three months since I got really busy at work. I can barely lift my arm now to even feed myself. Sore.

We went on a much needed vacation to island of Oahu in Hawaii to relax and to celebrate our one year anniversary. The weather was absolutely perfect and warm. We got to spend time relaxing, playing, and exploring the island. It was great.

Good lil' citizen

I realized last night as I was going through all the bills, letters, and junkmail that had accumulated over the week I was gone, that I had missed jury duty.

Uh oh.

Thoughts of being in a lonesome jail cell without my trusty cell phone or computer brought tears to my eyes.

I called the courthouse this afternoon. To my delight, the gentleman told me, "You missed nothing. We didn't call your group so you are excused for the next 12 months."

One year Anniversary

Today we returned from our weeklong trip in Hawaii celebrating our first year of marriage. What a way to celebrate - by the beach relaxing all week, soaking up the sun and eating good food. In the last year, we have learned so much, been to so many places, and seen so many things. Here's to many more!
