Beachy

Beachy

I spent last weekend on the beach in Aptos near Santa Cruz catching some rays, playing in the water, and watching some beach volleyball with some close friends. This weekend and next week, Bertrand and I will be in Hawaii celebrating our one year anniversary. I could really get used to this beach business.

Liquids

I went on my first flight since the new airline restrictions on carry-ons. I was only gone one night, but needed to check my bag which seemed like what most others were doing too. This person, decided to check their teeny tiny toiletry bag with...just liquids and gels.

Tim the Moose

Alaska Airlines has a moose named Tim as their mascot? Why "Tim"?

Silly moose.

Another year older

Kimmy & SylvesterI celebrated my birthday this weekend in full kimmy-fashion and had a jam packed weekend of friends, family, and fun. Saturday morning, we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain to enjoy the use of our season passes. We jumped on a bunch of rollercoasters, screamed, shouted, and had our little tummies doing somersaults. After our stomachs called it quits on us, we went and enjoyed the more low key activities.

Bumper BertrandWe re-lived our younger days and jumped in some bumper cars where we chased each other and a bunch of little kids around in circles to bump the living daylights out of each other. Then we headed to the carnival games where to my delight, I won (kicked major booty) and got myself a little purple tiger who I named "Purrdy". After a few carnival games, we went into the arcade and played some air hockey. There was much cheering and screaming and I again narrowly brought home the prize and won (muahaha). Bertrand says he "let" me win because it was my birthday, but really...we all know the truth.

After a fun filled morning, we headed out and had a nice lunch then embarked on one of my favorite activities...shopping. We (I) had a very successful shopping trip, checked into our hotel, cleaned up, then headed out for dinner before going to Tim McGraw & Faith Hill's Soul2Soul tour. Faith is absolutely gorgeous and I love Timmy! What an awesome entertainer. The two of them singing together ended the night on a beautiful note filled with music and love.

I welcomed the new year of my life by stuffing myself completely with food. I ate funnel cake for breakfast, had all-you-can eat seafood for dinner with my family and then also somehow managed to eat some more cake.

IMG_2100Monday night, a bunch of my friends got together and celebrated my birthday with me over dinner. We had some great laughs reminiscing about funny stories.

Good times...good times...

Christmas in August

I had my iTunes on shuffle yesterday while working and some Christmas music came on. It made me so happy, all I have been listening to since then is Christmas music. Happy August!

Just you wait

While having lunch, we started talking about the different cultural traditions. Some of the girls were talking about how sometimes Indian weddings can take place in the middle of the night or at some odd time because of what the astrologers determine as a good time. They mentioned, that sometimes you have to wait until the time is right. Then one of the guys said, "Yes, isn't it the same way with naming babies?" What I heard was, "Isn't it the same way with babies?" I thought about this for a second thinking of a pregnant lady ready to give birth, but waiting for a good day to do it, and in a completely shocked and amazed voice said, "How do you wait???"

Now that would be some amazing talent and discipline.

This is the most awesome music video ever. Who knew you could do such cool dancing with a bunch of treadmills and funny guys? My favorite is the ice skating move.

Toe cramps

While at the company picnic today, Bertrand, Tine and I had all of our hands full with food, drinks, blankets, cameras and phones and navigated our way through Shoreline Amphitheatre to watch the show. As we were climbing the stairs to the entry my toe suddenly cramped up and curled under into a Charlie Horse-like cramp. It was excruciating and I literally yelled out and put everything I had immediately on the floor, bent down, and tried to relieve the cramp since I could no longer walk. Tine and Bertrand stopped and were completely helpless with their full hands while everyone behind us had to navigate around this little girl dealing with her cramped toe. Once that was over, I picked up all my stuff and we continued to walk. Not five steps later, the toe decide to cramp up again and we go through the same thing again. This time, the two of them start worrying more and Tine turns to Bertrand, "Is this a regular occurrence???" In which Bertrand responded, "I have no idea what is happening here." They both look at me, "What do we do? What do we do?!" I was too busy writhing in pain to answer. At this point, despite the pain, the toe cramping situation starts to become funny to me so I am half crying half laughing that we can't get more than five steps away and I am completely debilitated by this toe. Then all three of us break into laughter. Once my toe once again decides to cooperate, we stood up, gathered our things and tried to find our seats. On the way down, we saw a few familiar faces and turned and waved. Of course, now that we had everybody's attention...yes, it happened again. So on the steps of the amphitheatre in the middle of the show, the three of us are rolling on the ground from laughter at the awkwardness and humor of the situation. Thankfully, the toe decided to cooperate the rest of the day and I was able to have a fun time at the picnic.

Carded

This weekend I bought some glue tape for my scrapbooking. When I went to pay, the cashier asked for my ID. Huh?!?

Girls night out!

Girls at Kelly Clarkson Concert

The girls and I went to see Kelly Clarkson play at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on Thursday. Us...along with what seemed like every parent with pre-teen girls. We sat in the lawn, fought off bugs, had a mini picnic, and rocked out to "Since You've Been Gone." What a blast.

Some notable quotes:
"I think I just swallowed a bug."
"It's on your LIP!"
"I feel like I need to pull out my phone to text too"
"I am OTC."
"I forget you don't like feet. Do you want me to cover my feet with a blanket? Cause I'm a good friend and would do that for you."
"Wow. An ambassador and a celebrity. Check us out"

A new type of math

Last night while playing with our friend's 5-month old baby. Another friend said, "He is almost 1!"

The rest of us were like...."how?"

Her answer, "Well 5 more months, and then 2 more months."

Sure. I guess that works.
