You are my sunshine

It's amazing how a sunny day can lift everyone's spirits...particularly mine. A sunny day makes me want to smile at everyone I walk past and adds a little skip to my step. Today I tried to squeeze out every minute of daylight I could get and went to the driving range to brush up on my swing and then rollerblading around the neighborhood.

I am in love with sunny days.

Rushed

When my alarm(s) went off this morning, I thought that I had gotten out of bed as usual to prepare for my day and for my ride into work on the shuttle. Instead...a couple of hours later, I woke up only to realize that I had dreamed the entire thing. Ever since, my day has been pretty out-of-sync and I feel so rushed. Darn those 'already awake' dreams.

City, Snow, Fun

Tadaa

I just woke up from my second nap today and am finally starting to feel somewhat normal and coherent again. I spent the first half of my week at a conference and the latter part in Tahoe partying it up with my fellow coworkers and having a blast at that. I have met so many awesome people this week from all around the world, watched my team bond together, worn my body to exhaustion, and gotten about 8 hours of good sleep the entire week.

I also got to see landmarks and little places in San Francisco that I have never seen before while on an "Urban Adventure" (scavenger hunt) of the city. One of my favorite shows to watch is "The Amazing Race" and I got to somewhat be in my own amazing race with my teammmates, running...yes, running all over San Francisco up and down nearly every hill and stairway for nearly two hours. Even though we didn't win (we were 4 minutes behind the winning team), we had a blast together scheming, running, and racing to the finish. The following day we went to Squaw Valley Ski Resort for our annual company ski trip. Tine, the best snowboardng coach ever, coached, screamed, and cheered me on until I finally was able to carve my way down the mountain on my snowboard. *applause* *applause* We ended the grueling, exciting, memory filled week dancing, jumping, singing, and screaming together to the band "Tainted Love."

What a great week.

Moving Fruit Stand

Pummelos
Originally uploaded by kimbalina.
On our drive down to LA for my cousin's wedding this weekend, there was a small mudslide on a section of the freeway. They ended up shutting down four of the five lanes on the freeway and it took us over three hours to go about 3 miles. After awhile, the freeway aka. parking lot, started looking like a scene from "Two Weeks Notice." People started getting out of their cars and going into the trailers hooked to the back of their cars to use the restrooms while others pulled onto the sides to use mother nature. While sitting in traffic, we noticed the pickup truck in the lane next to us full of Pummelos. Since we had nothing to do but stare at this truck, we thought it would be fun to ask the driver if we could buy some of the fruit he was carrying. After playing a little 'flirting' game trying to get perfectly next to the truck and getting over our nerves, we rolled down the window and asked him. The man was pretty amused, agreed and pulled his car closer to us and threw in two of the Pummelos through the window. The fruit shopping in traffic was pretty amusing and kept us laughing and entertained for awhile. Better yet, it was some of the best Pumello I've ever had.

Random Acts of Kindness

The storm came crashing down on us this morning with a vengeance. When I got to the park-n-ride where the shuttle picks up for work, I was too busy trying to keep my hood from flying off my head to notice the gigantic puddle in front of me. One of the guys also waiting for the shuttle jumped out from the overhang to point out the puddle to me before I got myself even more wet than I already was. Half a second longer, and I would have been soaked up past my ankles. Later, as the shuttle bus drove up, the driver also didn't see this huge puddle and ran right through it bringing up a gigantic wave of water that headed straight for all of us waiting on the side, particularly me who again chose to stand in front of the puddle. We all jumped back to avoid the splash and instinctively, the same guy put his arm out to push me back and jumped in front of me to cover me from the water. Wow.

It feels so good to know there are such nice people out there.

Wedding Body

Andrea, aka. Miss Hardcore Fitness has taken me under her wing and has become my "personal trainer". She is helping me to work on my "Wedding Body." We've been going to the gym together for the past few days and she is keeping me on track. No more laziness for me. Over the next few months, I will be transformed into a toned, defined, Kimmy. *flex*

After nearly two weeks of being on vacation and waking up around noon, 5:45AM was not a happy morning today. Coffee please.

Happy New Year

It has been a great couple of weeks. I have gotten so much accomplished, but at the same time, have spent a lot of time doing absolutely nothing. I ended the new year with friends and family, playing video games and board games, eating so much that my stomach has fully expanded to a new size (so much for working on my wedding body), watching about ten movies, and getting an unexpected workout from a video game called EyeToy both from playing it and from laughing at others play it. 2004 has been an awesome year. Here's to 2005 being even better!
