Rain rain go away...

What is with all this rain? Yesterday marked the 23rd day of rain in March in the Bay Area, tying the all-time record for rain. I am a California girl for a reason and this non-sunshine is starting to not be so fun.

At least the weather people are having a good time with it. The other morning, the weather man was showing his 5 day forecast. Wednesday - rain, Thursday - cloudy, Friday - rain, Saturday - cloudy, Sunday - rain with the caption "This is getting old".

Teeny Tiny

Is it just me...or do I look especially tiny in this picture?

Not so young

Sometimes I feel really young and youthful. I look around me and see my friends working at their careers, getting married, having babies, raising families, etc. Then there are other times...like this weekend, when I walk into the local high school hang out, aka smoothie shop and am referred to as "m'am" by everyone in the joint.

How NERDY are you?

GeeksOne of my friends sent me an online quiz to find out how nerdy I was. He told me that he scored a 41 and laughed at me calling me a nerd when I scored 54. According to the results, "Somewhat nerdy. I mean face it, you are nerdier than about half the test takers." I had no worries though, I waited for my husband who appropriately came downstairs wearing his "Geek" shirt. He took the quiz and knocked us both out of the competition for biggest nerd. He got a 73.

How nerdy are you?

Mad Gab Stump

I am a huge fan of board games and group type games. Mafia, Cranium, Taboo, Risk...bring it on! I love them all. One of my recent favorites is Mad Gab, a game where you decipher common phrases from totally unrelated words.

Say this phrase outloud a few times: "My Kojak Sun."

If you heard "Michael Jackson", you rule.

This game is hilarious and my abs hurt from laughter every time we play it. I do pretty well guessing the various phrases, but there was one phrase that completely stumped me. A bit ironic considering where I work.

"Dew Ache Who Gulls Urge"

Easily Entertained

I am easily entertained...and as I found out last night, so is the rest of my family. While waiting around for the food to be brought to our table, my brother who was in town for the night, entertained us by showing us how his fingers could move like little legs running or how he could make his hand look like a dinosaur. He had the whole table rocking in our chairs with laughter. Hmm. We've got to get out more.

SXSW 2006

Kimmy & Pete at SXSWI went to Austin, Texas earlier this week to attend the Interactive portion of SXSW. It was awesome getting to listen to and interact with all of the people involved in creating the new and upcoming products. I felt honored to be in the presence of such innovative minds and to be a part of that community.

SXSW BloggerBlogger even won the Best Weblog Tool Award at the Bloggies!

We got to party with fellow bloggers at the Blogger Party at Club de Ville on Monday night and hand out some ultra-hip beanies.

Googlerssouth by southwest this year was awesome! It was my first time in the state of Texas and I enjoyed it very much. Austin is a great city.

Yeehaww!

Powder! Powder! Powder!

Sierra at TahoeBefore heading to Austin for SXSW, I went up to Tahoe with a great group of people and enjoyed the crazy storms that have been hitting Northern California as of late. If it was snowing in San Jose...you can imagine how good the snow was in Tahoe! I have never snowboarded in such soft powder. It was great!

Into the future

I made a bet with one of my friends in 2000 about where we thought everyone would be at in seven years. We agreed, that in 2007 we would redeem the bet...but it had to be a "good" one. We agreed that in 2007, whoever lost would mow the other person's lawn for a year (neither of us owned a lawn at the time). One more year...and I should have my very own long awaited personal gardener.

The other night, I was telling Nicole about the joys of marriage and washing dishes. She made the comment that it would be a long time before she would be married. We talked about it back and forth for awhile until another bet emerged. Since we had just been talking about needing to pamper ourselves, we agreed that in three years, if she is engaged/married, she will get me a pair of designer jeans. And if the reversed were true, then she will have earned herself a nice pair of jeans.

Nicole, you are going down. I can't wait to wear my long awaited, well earned pair of designer jeans.

Oh ye of little faith...

Gimpy

I was running a little late this morning leaving the house and grabbed a pair of heels I hadn't really worn before. They matched my outfit so I thought it would be cute. As I got off the bus once we got to campus, realized that my right shoe was too big for me so my foot kept slipping out. So here I am walking in the rain, tripping over my own foot, stepping on my pants, and trying to keep my shoe on. Everyone around me thinks I am limping when really...I'm just trying to keep my shoe on. It's going to be a long day...

Yummy in my tummy

I get to food like this every day.
With its dedication to providing free and largely healthful, organic and artisan-produced meals three times a day to its employees, Google may well be leading the way in corporate food-service programs in the same way it has set the bar for search engines.
Am I spoiled? Sure. Call it whatever you want. My tummy and brain are very happy.

Now...to decide what I'd like to eat today.
