One more day and my summer is over. :( boohoo. Oh how I will miss the days of working 9-5 (really), going out to lunch with my IET buddies (after the endless debate on where to go), hanging out playing NERTS with the roomies, taking pictures with the webcam (sometimes videos *cough* *cough*...right dani boy?), going out and staying up until the wee hours of the morning....

Looking back, this summer has actually lasted a long time. Seems like ages ago when I stood in front of a bunch of nervous transfer/freshmen students for Summer Advising, played Text-Twist, and chit chatted with the ITX boyz. I even took a couple of classes the first part of summer and got to know a few very neat people. Back at work we've had some interesting times too...spending an entire day in a little room with the same people, you're bound to see and hear some pretty funny things. :) Some of the comments were so funny that we began writing down all the random quotes that were said on a piece of paper that hangs on the wall. Yesterday, I created a new project for myself to put that random quotes paper on the web so that each time something new was said, we could add it in a nice easy-to-use format that could be updated easily rather than scribble it on a piece of paper hanging on the wall. Hmm...wonder if I could get away with doing that on work time. heehee...just kidding.

This summer has been quite eventful. It's consisted with a lot of ups and many downs as well. The downs have been very hard and made me question a lot of things in my life, but they also led me to realize how great the good things were. I got to see how a good friend would be there just to sit with me, cry with me, wipe away my tears and snot (thanks Aldy), laugh with me, and just be there to be my friend not only for the happy days but also the sad days. And I know more now than ever that it is one of the greatest things when your parents stop being your parents but become your greatest friends. Family and close friends are more valuable to me now more than ever and I know that have gained more than I have lost.

I discovered new things, new places (Frys) heehee... and had a blast overall. I got to play around with my webpage, learned an unbelievable amount of stuff at work, learned to play Blackjack at a casino (BAD Sharene! BAD!), got to show my ID for the first time at a bar. I'd say this has been a pretty good summer. :)

There have been many memories made that will be remembered for years to come. Although I don't want it to end...I guess I'll be ready for my classes to begin. After all, only 3 more quarters and counting until I graduate! I might as well get crackin' on it, right?

I LOVE the country group, Rascal Flats. My favorite song, "It's Not Just Me" has the most amazing lyrics and the singer puts so much heart into it, it leaves me breathless everytime that I hear it. The many other songs by Rascal Flats have a very similar effect on me. Well, around Christmas time last year, I downloaded a bunch of songs by Rascal Flats. One of them was a Christmas song with SheDaisy another country group. The tune was nice and I really liked it. So I listened to it a lot. I was doing my hair and makeup this morning and was listening to a bunch of mp3s that I haven't listened to in awhile. This Christmas song came up and was playing. I was singing my heart out to the chorus, "And I did it all for you...I did it all for you this Christmas...all your dreams...will come true..." Thinking to myself, wow what an awesome song. It's a nice little Christmas love song. So I put it on repeat singing it over and over. Then I started listening to what I was actually singing and it didn't quite make sense to me. The first line talked about how she sold his Rolex to buy herself a Versace dress....and she did it all for him. I was like...huh??? Anyways, thinking that I must be out of it because my late night out last night, I continued to sing my heart out. Finally, my curiosity got to me and I decided to look up the lyrics to this song. Twist of the Magi by SheDaisy and Rascal Flats. And I thought it was a sweet love song! heehee.

So I got a new webcam today. I'm such a nerd... So when I get the new webcam, I tried to set it up when I got home. Of course this thing comes with no instruction manual so I figure that it's a pretty easy setup right? WRONG! After popping in the CD and installing all of the drivers etc. I restarted the computer and got an error message saying that it is missing some .dll file. Great, so I went to go look for it, but had no clue as to where to find it. Luckily there was a handy dandy tech support number to call on the box, so I called and the guy on the phone was helfpul enough to find it for me. This was of course after he led me through the whole process for the WRONG camera, but that is besides the point. ;). So I'm all excited trying to get the camera to work and experiment by taking pictures. For some odd reason, everytime I saved, it only let me save it as a .avi file and I wanted a jpeg. So I did some roundabout stuff to my pics until then to entertain a couple of my friends. I went through the help sections of the program along with the tutorial, but there was nothing about just saving a picture and not a video. Perplexed, I read the box again. There on the box, it said, "take and edit pictures using Mr. Photo." Mr. Photo?!? What is Mr. Photo...turns out when I installed everything, I happened to miss installing Mr. Photo who is the picture taker. Duh! heehee. So I installed Mr. Photo and the cam works now. Pheww....
I went to Frys Electronics for the first time today. According to Dan, I am now "officially the last person in the Bay Area to have gone to Fry's." I've heard so much about it and when I pass by, the parking lot is always full, so I figured, let's see what all the fuss is about. I must say, it was quite overwhelming! I felt kind of lost and not really sure where I was supposed to be going. Rather than the usual leisurely shopping patrons, all of these people seemed to know what they needed, came in, got it, and then left. I just wanted to look around! heehee. So I decided I need to find a webcam, a cheap alternative to the expensive digital cameras, so that I could get pics up on the web quickly for my ebay auctions. I guess I looked as lost as I felt because this nice man came up to me asking if he could help me. In his words, "You look very confused." haha...great way to make a first impression on the supposed "greatest electronics store." So the man helped me pick out a nice little webcam that has interchangeable face plates. Then he goes and prints up this random paper for me with the price of my webcam, and I'm again confused about if I'm supposed to be paying him there or at the registers... Of course, I don't want to let him in on my confusion, thanked the nice man and continued to wander around the huge store. I found my way to the DVDs and picked up The Conte of Monte Cristo and then looked for the place where I was supposed to pay. In the distance I saw a bunch of counters with numbers, but I couldn't see very many heads because of the racks of candy and magazines, so I decided to head towards that direction. There was a long line of people so I stood in the back making my way down this aisle. Now I've always heard people talk about buying a new computer, buying cd-rs, a digital camera, printers, etc. at Frys, but never have I heard of people buying pantyhose or dental floss at Frys. I am not kidding you, as I wait in this line at the electronics store to pay, I passed by displays of pantyhose, dental floss, toothpaste, bubblegum, chocolates... I thought this was an electronics store and all of a sudden I feel like I'm at Walmart. :) So I made it to the front of the line where there was a sign showing that a green light means "go" and a red light means "stop." Uh....hello! I guess there are more clueless shoppers out there than I thought. :) But I made it safely home and my first trip to Frys was a success.

I am on my much needed VACATION!!! I really needed some time to get away and take my mind off of everything that's been going on. So on my break from work and school I decided to go home and spend the time with family. My brother is leaving for UCLA next week, so I've been spending some quality time with the family. :) Got a chance to go shopping in Gilroy at the outlets, but honestly, I think that good ole' Vacaville outlets are much better. Also got a chance to go through the house and do some cleaning. Our house has always been pretty clean, but I went through the cupboards and closets cleaning out things that we don't use anymore. I have decided that, "less is more." Anything that we haven't used in a long time, or probably won't ever use again, I put aside to either give away or sell on e-bay. So right now I have my first selling item up on ebay. Let's see if anyone decides to buy it... In the meantime, I am just enjoying having no responsibilities and being able to wake up whenever my body feels like it. Oh...vacation.
