Good morning sunshine

Hellooooo Spring! Finally!

The eighty degree weather we have been blessed with over the past couple of days has been amazing! This weekend we got to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and wash our cars, take a walk, drive around top down, clean up the yard, and sit outside and soak up the sun.

Hello skirts and flip flops...how I've missed you.

New toy

Last week my cell phone's (one of my favorite toys) screen died on me. My trusted buddy and accessory to my moblog was no longer functional. It was a bit traumatizing but the perfect opportunity to upgrade to a new toy. So after some fun phone shopping and much debate, I settled on the Samsung t809 from T-mobile. This phone is awesome...I am one happy customer. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, bluetooth, mp3 player, video and voice recorder, a crystal clear screen, and a bunch of other fun features I am still discovering. Not only that, but the most important part of all...it is pretty! It is as thin as the Razr and has a neat slidy feature. I am in love.

At your fingertips

Are you an American Idol fan too? I feel like after every show, I jump onto iTunes to find whatever song i liked and listen to it throughout the week. After "Queen" week on American Idol, I was listening through the greatest hits album all week. Some people teased me about it...obviously not AI fans...c'mon people! I just discovered that iTunes has a section called, "As Heard on American Idol" where it shows the songs that were sung, by who, and with the original songs listed. They even have the entire set from since the beginning of this season. Apple...with this and your one click buying, you are making this way too easy for me.

Back to bed

I had a dream that I woke up this morning and got ready for work and was actually early, only to discover that I had pushed the wrong button on my alarm clock and was running late. Once I arrived at work, I managed to get my breakfast and drop my entire bowl of cereal on the kitchen floor and then ran into someone as I tried to get back to my desk.

I should just go back to bed.

Blown away by Chicago

Chicago

Chicago - view from our roomTaking a couple of days off of work to go to Chicago was so much fun. It was a bit spontaneous on our part which made it even more exciting. When Wicked came to San Francisco, it was immediately sold out. I wanted to see it so bad and with our new resolution to do more traveling, we decided to make a trip of it and also catch all the sites in Chicago. We had no idea what we wanted to do there except to see what "The Magnificent Mile" was all about, eat deep dish pizza, and maybe catch a glimpse of Oprah.

SeahorseOnce we arrived, we found out that there was plenty to see and do (and eat!). We walked down The Magnificent Mile, where I got to shop to my heart's content. We ate, and ate, and ate. I had the thickest deep dish pizza I've ever seen in my life, yummy seafood at Shaw's Crab House, spicy hot dogs, and a ginormous rack of ribs. But we did more than just eat...we were especially excited to go to the Shedd Aquarium and see all the little and big fishies.

Protesting along with the actorsWhile walking around the city, we saw this huge commotion around the Federal Reserve Bank where there were huge crowds protesting out front and up the road, a presidential motorcade. We soon figured out after the motorcade backed up after passing the protestors, and did it again, that we were witnessing the taping of a movie. After we figured that out, I joined the protestors. We went to the viewing deck of the Sears tower, the once tallest building in the world and could see forever and ever. I am still so surprised at how much flatter certain areas of the United States are compared to here in the Bay Area.

Wicked!Saturday night was the most pleasant night of all because that was the night we got to see the much anticipated Wicked! The show was playing at the Oriental Theater at Ford Center and was jam packed. If you ever get the chance to see this show...see it! The story is based on the untold story of the witches of Oz. It completely changes how you see and think of The Wizard of Oz.

Chicago was way more than I expected it to be. It was full of fun things to do, places to see, and plenty of good food to eat. I have never been to a big city and been so pleasantly surprised at how everyone was so friendly and polite. It was so refreshing to see how nice people were. I was literally...blown away.

Windy City Alright

Windy City Alright!

I got to experience first hand why Chicago is known as the windy city. I was nearly blown away just trying to walk down the street. Brrr! Aside from the crazy cold winds, Chicago was great! I loved it.

Magnificent Mile

As we walked down Michigan Avenue...

Me: No wonder they call it the Magnificent Mile. Anywhere I could go shopping for this long is pretty magnificent.

Bertrand: A woman must have named it, because no man would call it that. Unless...it was her husband, saying it was pretty magnificent he could leave her there to shop and he could go elsewhere.

A couple days off

Bertrand and I are taking the next couple of days off to take a mini vacation and visit the windy city of Chicago. This will be the first vacation day I have taken since our honeymoon, but it feels like the first vacation day I have taken in an even longer time. And it actually feels like I will be taking a break from everything. Yippee.

Real life workout

So I've been hitting up the gym again after a little break. Things have been good and I've been enjoying the time back at the gym and the good feelings afterwards. This weekend, I spent several hours being domestic and did yard work. It started out as pulling a couple of weeds, then turned into pulling all of the weeds in the entire yard. I felt so accomplished, I pulled out the sheers and trimmed some bushes. Then I looked up and saw that some of the trees needed trimming also. I ended up spending about four hours just doing yardwork. When I go to the gym, I usually do a few sets of squats and other exercises, here I did non-stop squats straight for hours at a time. No wonder I can barely walk today. Who knew real life was a better workout than the gym.
