Backwards Booking

Bertrand and I are going to Las Vegas next weekend. We booked the trip about a month ago so haven't had to worry about it since. Last night, I was filling out our joint calendar and thought I would put our flight information on it. That was when I noticed that...I had booked the flights REVERSED! So we were set to depart from Vegas on Friday afternoon and arrive...home. Doh!

It's all resolved and our flights are set from the proper cities now...with some penalty fees. I now make sure to double/triple/quadruple check my flight information while booking.

I'd better be winning that money back!

I met Hillary today

I met Hillary Clinton today. Twice.

Eric & HillaryI was getting some tea in the microkitchen at work and an afternoon snack and she walked in and said, "Hi! How are you all doing?" to a bunch of us standing in the kitchen. Um....hi!

Later on, she spoke to the Googlers with Eric Schmidt. Tine and I somehow lucked out and were in the right place at the right time and got to stand about 50 feet away from the stage with nobody in front of our view. After chatting with Eric and us Googlers, she walked past us on her exit and shook my hand. Neat.

Just another random day at work...

Puppies need lots of sleep

Asleep coming out of crate

Max is full of energy and fun. So much so that he sometimes "forgets" that he is tired and falls asleep in the middle of whatever he is doing...whether that be walking, eating, crawling into my lap, walking out of his crate or playing. Today he and I were playing a game where I threw a towel on top of him and he'd find his way out of the towel. After a few times, the little lump under the towel stopped moving. I opened it up to see a little snoring puppy. He fell asleep in the middle of playing!

Long weekend with the boys

Max

Me and my boys!

Max & Toby play

It's been a great long holiday weekend. I got a new puppy, flew to the OC for the day, attended my cousin's bridal shower, spent time with friends from out of town, and got to spend lots and lots of time with my boys. Max is such a great puppy! He's playful, well socialized, and very cuddly. Toby is adjusting to having a little brother and they've been playing around in the backyard and house. The weather has been great also. I wish every weekend was a three day weekend.

Down and back

I flew to the OC for the day today. Scratch that....

I flew to the OC for 3 hours today. My cousin is getting married in a couple of months and we had her bridal shower today in SoCal (where it was 89 degrees out!). Given the fact that I just got a brand new baby, I couldn't leave for the weekend so decided to fly out, literally, just for the bridal shower. I think I spent more time at the airport, in the air, and getting to the airport than I did at the actual event.

It was well worth it.

I've got mail

I used to get my mail and packages delivered right to my desk in my old building. Over time, I have gotten most of my mail and all of my packages and only a few times have I had to request for something to be re-sent to me. I moved to a new building a few weeks ago and naively assumed that the mail delivery was the same over here.

I went down to the garage today to put my gym bag into my car and on the way back saw the mailroom and thought I would peek inside to see what it looked like. Then I walked over to the section where my name would be if it were here, only to find that I have a mailbox! Not only do I have a mailbox...that I have been completely oblivious to...a mailbox overflowing with mail!

There I found magazines, cards from friends, and a year's worth of phone bills dating back to February of 2006.

Wow.

Time to clean those lenses

Last weekend while finishing up our day of snowboarding, Bertrand and I discussed which runs we wanted to take down to get back to The Village. We had been trying various combinations of the runs throughout the day, alternating between the different lifts.

Bertrand: Which run do you want to take down?
Me: Let's take the first one on the right....La Honda.
Bertrand: Ax Handle?
Me: No....La Honda.
Bertrand: Ax Handle?
Me: Why do you keep saying Ax Handle when I keep saying La Honda? They sound nothing alike.

So he pulls out his trail map and asks me to point out which run I was talking about. As I'm analyzing the map...I don't see La Honda. But I swear I saw it the last few runs down. Maybe this trail map is old and they haven't updated it with this new La Honda run. So again Bertrand says, "Ax Handle?" at which point I get very annoyed and roll my eyes at him. "Yes...La Honda. Just follow me."

I asked him what he would give me when we got to the run and he saw La Honda. He said nothing...maybe a kiss. What? Psh. So at this point...it is about pride. I'll show you La Honda.

I boarded down ahead of him as he followed closely behind me. We came up to the intersection and I spotted my sign and had a huge smile on my face as I victoriously point it out to him and turn to laugh. Then as my board is sliding closer....I realize...wow. I need to get my eyes checked. Not La Honda....Ax Handle.

Argh.

Happy place

A friend at work just showed me a magical machine on campus that makes Peets coffee espresso drinks with the push of a button. I am currently enjoying my Double Macchiato.

I am now in my happy place.

Slushy Fun

On the liftI spent the past few days in Lake Tahoe relaxing, snowboarding, and hanging out with some of the most awesome people in the world. Despite the warm springlike temperatures and lack of good snow, I went snowboarding a couple of times. We also spent some time in Reno where we scored and celebrated our winnings (two stuffed animals). I then partied it up with my work friends on our annual ski trip.

It really doesn't matter what you're doing, but who you're doing it with.

Delay in Puppy

Max won't be arriving this Thursday as planned. Unfortunately, the temperatures have been too cold for him to fly out here from Minneapolis so we are looking at another week until the temperatures will be above freezing for him to make his flight home.

Where is winter?

I am going to Tahoe this weekend to go snowboarding but really....it hasn't snowed in awhile. It has been a pretty warm dry winter for us. We had a couple days of freezing temperatures, but no rain, hence no snow. How sad.

According to weather reports, the next few days are going to be springlike temperatures, even reaching 70! Mr. Groundhog tells me that spring is coming early this year too.

Am I missing something here? Did we even have a winter this year?
