It was a penny!
The passenger seat on our little convertible has been stuck in a position only meant for petite passengers with little legs such as myself. For some reason, a couple months ago, we weren't able to push the seat back to its normal position. We'd think about checking it out, but ultimately forget once we got home because I was usually the passenger and fit fine. However, when we tried transporting some of our taller friends, it became more of a predicament.
Today, we finally pulled out the flashlight and investigated. And guess what was the cause of all our squishiness? A little tiny penny...mangled beyond belief, but still a once penny, stuck in the seat track.
Be free little penny! And now...taller friends, you may ride with us again.

Holiday with friends
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.

Time to do nothing, plan nothing
I am going on a 6 week leave from work. It has been quite a long trek. My personality is to always be on top of everything, to always have a plan, and to go-go-go. Even my awesome vacations and trips, are full of activities and fun (not complaining!). I'm tired. I'd like to learn how to do nothing.
Everyone keeps asking what I am planning to do. Travel? Take a class? Visit people?
Maybe a little bit of everything. I want to learn to be better at photography. I want to sleep. I want to learn to cook more dishes. I want to scrapbook. Or maybe nothing.
My plan? My plan is to plan nothing. If at the end of this 6 weeks I can say that I have done nothing and planned nothing, I will have succeeded in my goal for this time.

White Elephant Holiday Game Night
We had a little Holiday Party/White Elephant/Game Night game night on Friday night. We lit a fire in our fireplace for the first time, got out the food, and gathered some of our closest friends for some fun and laughter. It was a great time having our friends from all areas of our lives come together.
We had a great time playing some crazy group games...and even ended up singing and acting out clues. Then of course...the white elephant. The best gifts? Probably the giant remote control, the Google Dog Calendar, and the toilet seat cover.
We also celebrated Bertrand's upcoming birthday!

Kooza!
We went to see Kooza - Cirque Du Soleil in San Francisco last night. It was a great show and amazing as all the Cirque Du Soleil shows are.
We've seen quite a few of these shows and this was the first one I have ever been to where there were actual accidents and mishaps during the show of daring acts. Usually...there are close calls, which help lead to the excitement of the amazing things the performers can do, but not actual accidents.
In last night's show, there wasn't just one mishap...there were several! Luckily all the performers were able to recover or repeat and seemed to be fine. In the tight rope act, one man jumped over another one on the rope. He didn't quite land right and missed the tiny rope and fell only to save himself by grabbing onto the rope and then pulling himself back up - sans his hat. In the acrobatic act with the seesaw-trampoline type thing...there were two men, one standing on the other's shoulders, and a third was going to jump on top of those two. He missed and ended up knocking the top guy in the head, getting caught by one foot, then hanging upside down until others came to rescue him. My nerves were totally shot.
Despite how much I did enjoyed the show, Ka is still my all time favorite Cirque show with O following closely behind.
Can't wait to make our next Vegas trip to catch a couple more...

white elephant
While debating with a friend at work about the rules of a White Elephant gift exchange, another coworker walked by.
Me: Hey...tell me what a "white elephant" gift exchange means to you....
Coworker: What?!? There is such a thing as a white elephant???
Me: Hmm...nevermind.
Traffic sux
This was my view for most of my ride into work today. I missed the shuttle so had to drive into work (only to miss my meeting anyways). At least I had some good Christmas music to keep me company all those hours...

life is random
Amongst the flood of emails I receive daily, last week I noticed a familiar name float by on a misc mailing list we have at work. I thought it might be the name of my brother's childhood friend who grew up on our street when we were kids. This morning I looked him up and his face looked familiar...so I emailed him asking him if he'd grown up in our hometown and on our little street. And whaddya know? It was him! The last time I have spoken to him was probably when he was 6 years old....and now we are coworkers!
Christmas tradition
Bertrand proposed to me under the big Christmas tree at "Christmas in the Park"in downtown San Jose a few years ago. Since then, we have made it a tradition to go back every year to enjoy the trees and lights, and to take a picture in front of the same tree.
Please tell me we haven't aged too much over the past 4 years.... :)

My boys, the celebrities
Toby & Max are becoming little dog celebrities.
Google had a little competition for photos for the "Google Dog Calendar". Max won and became "Mr. February". Little did I know, when I went to check out the prototype for the calendar, that Toby got an honorable mention and is one of the dogs on the cover!
If I couldn't be more excited and proud already...
A couple of months ago, I shot a video of Max stripping off his t-shirt. I submitted this to America's Funniest Home Videos. This morning, I got an email from the show saying that Max was being considered to be aired on their show!
What's next? The movies?
